we hike in the direction of Praia Bordeira

It's a blue sky today. Thus we really feel like a hike after all these days in the rain. Our route leads from Praia Amado to Praia Bordeira. Believe it or not, but there are lots of hikers in groups at this time of year. Young and old, with or without backpacks. Partly clad in short pants, for it is not at all cold. We even had to turn our fridge colder.

but there is an enormous wind today, almost a storm. We, however, need to stop every few metres to admire the spectacle of the waves. As high as a house, the water breaks against the cliffs. We cannot help but watch it. Especially Herbert has lots of fun taking photos. Thank goodness we got the second telephoto lens with us.

what natural forces around here

Beside all other, we are amazed of how the Portuguese protect the coast. There are wood-paths and terraces all along. Talking of protecting the environment, we must say how clean the entire country is. You won't find one plastic bag or bottle or anything. And no rubbish along the roads anywhere. Contrary to Greece, where the rubbish piled into the sky this summer. Let alone the stench of it.

and on we walk

In the evening, our neighbors leave the place in their Unimog. This couple has been on tour for five weeks, for a whole year. They, too, want to spend the winter here before they cross the ocean to get to Canada in spring. The later the evening, the more sleepy we get. After two glasses of Prosecco, we call it a day at eleven. Thus, we sleep New Year's Eve away, just like the years before.

Happy New Year
